The removal of an LGBTQ rainbow pride flag from the United States' most prominent gay monument after new rules issued by the Trump administration sparked an outcry and a noisy protest on Tuesday.

New York officials on Thursday hoisted a large rainbow Pride flag over the Stonewall National Monument that was removed by the Trump administration earlier in the week.

“We won’t let Trump erase LGBTQ+ history. Stonewall was a rebellion. Stonewall was a beginning. Today, Stonewall is a call to action once again,” Nadler said in a statement posted online.
