Back in March, Vice President Kamala Harris warned Israel not to enter Rafah, the southern Gaza enclave where Hamas had holed up among the its civilian population, saying in an interview that the U.S. would not rule out "consequences" if the Israeli military moved forward with an invasion.

Kamala Harris has said the death of Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar could end the war in Gaza. “This moment gives us an opportunity to finally end the war in Gaza,” the US vice-president and Democratic presidential nominee said while campaigning in Wisconsin.

"It is time for the day after to begin," she said, speaking from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee just moments after the White House released President Joe Biden's statement on the death of Yahya Sinwar. Israeli officials said Sinwar was killed in a battle with Israeli forces in Gaza.
