ON THIS DAY IN OK: America’s first-ever tornado forecast was issued on March 25, 1948, by two officers at Tinker Air Force Base. After a tornado smashed into the base just five days earlier, military authorities directed two US Air Force meteorologists at Tinker to determine whether tornadoes could be forecast.
