In my top three favorite places in NC… Bald Head Island. Accessible only by boat (you can take a ferry from Southport!) and everyone uses golf carts and bicycles to get around. It’s pretty magical. Where to stay: @palmettoplacebhi or one of many other airbnbs, @theinnatbaldheadisland Tip: pack some groceries because while there is a supermarket on the island, prices are pretty high! Bald Head Island: this idyllic little island is only accessible via boat and doesn’t allow cars. When you arrive there are a sea of golf carts and bicycles waiting for you to sweep you away. Old Baldy is the oldest standing lighthouse in North Carolina and the rectangular stairway leading up the inside of the tower is made of Carolina yellow pine.
