A 2400-year-old Greek shipwreck has been discovered deep in the Black Sea off the coast of Bulgaria. Found more than a mile below the surface by the Black Sea Maritime Archaeology Project, the vessel dates back to around 400 BC. Its mast, rudders, and rowing benches remain intact thanks to the anoxic water at that depth, which prevents decay from wood-eating organisms. This remarkable preservation offers researchers a rare, time-capsule glimpse into ancient Greek shipbuilding and trade routes. |
