Georgia and the US will be renovating the ancient Jewish cemetery of Akhaltsikhe, a city close to the border with Turkey. Some of the tombs date back to the 17th century, while others even have inscriptions in Ladino, indicating that some of the city's Jews were Sephardim who had come to Georgia from the Ottoman Empire.
